How to fit a washing machine and lavatory under the stairs!
You can utilise wasted space under the stairs to create the much desired downstairs toliet in a period property. Likewise you can free up space in the kitchen - in our case allowing for a kitchen / diner configuration - by moving the laundry equipment out. Here's how we are doing it in our project house (see diagram below).Our stairs have a turn and this greatly reduces the space available for the cloakroom and laundry cupboard. If you are lucky enough to have straight stairs you should find it possible to get the tumble dryer into a laundry cupboard as well.
