Father returns home after his unplanned hospital stay, leaving me to the laborious task of budgeting.
|
Father went home today, so I'm on my own. At least no more hospital visits for the near future. I know the local healthcare facilities rather too well, for saying I have only lived here for two weeks!
Spent the remainder of the day working on the budget and plans. I think it's really important to nail down what we are going to do and how much it's going to cost as soon as possible, to make sure it all stacks up. Bottom-up is my approach, adding costs line-by-line, room-by-room. And I have used two columns: the ideal and a cut-price alternative. You can bet that somewhere in your project, something is going to sneak up on you and bite an unexpectedly large chunk out of your budget. So I figure, plan two routes to completion upfront. If money gets tight you can switch to the cheaper route immediately for the remainder of the project. It'll save you panicking when the proverbial hits the fan.
