A new week begins with a rude awakening to the lack of proper insulation and an urgent trip to Wickes to do something about it.

My god, it is so cold this morning. The water by my bedside has practically frozen during the night. The heating has been on since 4:30am and I can still see my breath in the kitchen, as I make Becca's packed lunch. There's nothing else for it, but to wop all four burners on the hob to max.
OK, so we're coping now, but what about long-term survival. It's time for immediate action. Order sealed double glazed units for the back of the house: check. Inspect insulation in loft; it's wafer thin. Estimate 18 rolls required to make up to proper depth. Right off to Wickes then theyre doing a special offer on Rockwool right now. What's this, a cold blast as I pass the front door? Crikey it's blowing a gale through the hallway. Best add draft excluder to the shopping list.
They're were 18 rolls on the list, but only 9 would fit into the car. So two journeys and a lot of loft-side perspiration later, I'm thinking 'bring it on', just as the weather girl says it's going to be milder tomorrow. Bah humbug...
