Sink Swap |
|
| Only a month after fitting it, the kitchen sink is swapped for a better model |
I made one big mistake when fitting the kitchen: putting a cheap DIY-shed sink in. It's never looked right, is very flimsy and scratches so easily. Yesterday, I finally bowed to pressure from Becca and took the flippin' thing out. I got my money back on it, but what a pain! Now, we've no sink until the new one arrives, which is after the weekend. This time, I've ordered a brandname (Franke) one online from Titanic Sinks (see link in sidebar) for £80. It actually works out only about a tenner more than the DIY-shed cheapie, because that was £50, plus waste, plus overflow, plus fitting kit! I just hope the new one arrives undamaged and complete. What else has happened? Well, lots of windows have been fitted with sealed double glazing units in the lounge bay. Unusually, we have bays at the front and back. So there are 18 window panes just in the downstairs rear of the house. The nine in the kitchen were done in February; now 4 of the lounge are done too. My salt and bleach trick on the watermark on the parquet flooring seems to have worked. Though I say that with some reservation. The stain has gone, but the blocks do look a little dull and lifeless. I'm hoping this will pass. Just to recap, I slapped a 50:50 bleach and water solution onto the stain, left for half a day and then put table salt all over it and left for half a day. I'm taking the long weekend off - I'll report back on the sink next week. |
